Keith Atack

BACKGROUND

Born in Wakefield West Yorkshire, April 5th 1959 and began his formative music training on piano from the age of eight.

Attended Kings Grammar school and formed first group with twin brother Tim Atack from  the age of 12 on guitar, in as little as 3 years were playing the legendary Marquee Club in London which would have made them one of the youngest ever rock bands to play there  ( Keith was fifteen at the time ). This was the start of a recording career with seventies pop band "CHILD" and the group went onto have 3 top twenty hits including 1 Top Ten Ten with thousands of young fans all over the UK.

Experience

The next chapter saw Keith playing and touring the world with rock singer Bonnie Tyler whom he still has a close working relationship recording and playing the European Festivals circuit but the advent of Satellite TV gave Keith the opportunity to broaden horizons and begin composing music for film and television firstly assisiting brother Tim with the music score for the Simon Beaufoy follow up to "THE FULL MONTY" , "AMONG GIANTS" starring Peter Postlethwaite - Keith was guiter consultant and played on the score. The first break came working with film director Richard Jobson on the  theme tune to sky movies  "MOVIETALK" series. From there onto the world of advertising , writing original music tracks for MASTERCARD, DAEWOO CARS, UNITED OVERSEAS BANK, from there he composed the original TMF (THE MUSIC FACTORY ); idents  Keith continued his musical relationship with director Richard Jobson and composed music for his first British feature film "TUBETALES" also working with director CHARLES MCDOUGAL ("SEX IN THE CITY", "QUEER AS FOLK" ) on a short film "STEALAWAY" (one of the TUBETALES Series). The next project was some underscore on Damien O' Donnell's movie "HEARTLANDS", his follow up to the hit film ("EAST IS EAST"), before the first opportunity to compose the full score for the critically acclaimed film "SIXTEEN YEARS OF ALCOHOL" which was listed in the Composers Category for BAFTA Nominees for that year.

Keith has also worked on the new Ricky Gervais' movie "CEMETARY JUNCTION", assisting composer Tim Atack with the seventies style soundtrack and also composing music for the 2010 World Cup for the "ESPN SPORT CHANNEL".
